Press Statement - My Boycott of Mayoral Husting arranged by MEN Media.

Published on by mikemouldingcommunity-action

Jennifer/Editors of All Media Organisations,
I have been invited to attend Mayoral Hustings by Salford City Radio, BBC Manchester & MEN Media through yourself.
After very careful consideration I have decided in the public interest to boycott the invitation given to me by MENMedia and will not be attending the Mayoral Husting arranged by MEN Media. I can confirm I will be attending the Mayoral Hustings arranged by Salford City Radio and BBC Manchester and I look forward to debating with my opponents about the future of Salford.
I campaigned and worked very hard for a YES vote in the Mayoral referendum. I did this because I believed our city needs radical change because to my dismay in 2011 Salford became a laughing stock at a national and international level. We had the Salford riots and we had committed on our streets one of the most henious crimes ever committed.
To my utter disgust, I now find myself in a position where I am having to debate the future of Salford with a convicted criminal who is an example of what is wrong with this great city of Salford.
I have decided to boycott your Mayoral Husting because I am disgusted at the inappropriate coverage you are giving this gentleman in your publications which could have the damaging effect of turning the Mayoral election and this great city into a city of further national and international ridicule.
Whilst I can accept that it may make a very interesting story to report, I would expect local media organisations to be responsible in their reporting and not try to glorify an individual because of his recent criminal past. I believe MEN Media's coverage of the Mayoral Election has so far been irresponsible and I care too much about Salford for me to go along to a Mayoral Husting arranged by yourself on behalf of MEN Media when I have concluded that your reporting suggests you want Salford to fail.
I have attached a portrait of myself. END

Mike , surely many are capable of being reformed . The man served time and paid his debt . A criminal conviction in the past should not condemn somebody to suffer from this for the rest of their
lives . Many ex-criminals are successfully re-habilitated , and move on to lead productive and useful lives - and never re-offend .
