Mike Moulding Updated profile.

Published on by mikemouldingcommunity-action

I am a local activist in the city of Salford, in particularly Swinton, Clifton & Pendlebury in the City of Salford. I am the Deputy Leader for the Community Action Party. I care passionately about local issues and have been active in the local area Swinton, city of Salford for many years. For the past 15 years I have been employed by various organisations helping and supporting homeless people in the cities of manchester, Liverpool & Preston and other places in Greater Manchester. I help homeless people get rehoused, provide support in relation to drugs and/or alcohol and other problems. I am a fully trained Homeless Assessment Officer. Prior to this I was employed in various governmental organisations including the Department for Social Security and the Inland Revenue. I have worked in the public sector all my life. I am passionate about the environment and green issues. I have been an avid campaigner of the allotment movement for the best part of 20 years. I was responsible for setting up The Swinton & District Allotments & leisure Gardeners Association, which is now a thriving community organisation in the town. I was primarily responsible for regenerating the Destructor allotment site on Mossfield Rd and the Townsend Rd allotment site off Station Rd. I ensured the association acquired thousands in grant funding to help regenerate these sites as well as other sites in the town including the allotments on Cotton St, Victoria Park, as well as other sites all over Swinton. My green credentials are excellent and I really do care about the environment we live in. I haver never driven a car all my life because of my beliefs on the environment and due to road safety issues, where I believe the less cars we have the better it is for our young children on our streets. I was baptised a Roman Catholic and I am a believer. I believe in social justice and help the most disadvantaged in the community whenever I can and have demonstrated this by my former profession for many years. I want to make a difference to where I live and believe I can do this by campaigning on matters relating to the local area. I was educated at Sacred Heart RC Primary School and St Edmund Campion RC High School and Cardinal Newman College all in Preston.

I have one son and his name is James Michael Moulding. I love and treasure him and he means the world to me. He has a fabulous partner Nicola and they are expecting their first child in October 2012 which will mean I will become a Grandad for the first time. I am so looking forward to being a grandfather !
