Letter to (UK) Metro

Published on by mikemouldingcommunity-action

Dear Editor,

From 2013 the government intends to replace Disability Living Allowance (DLA), which has been responsible for transforming the lives of hundreds of thousands of people living with disabilities and/or long-term/life-long illness since its introduction with a new system of Personal Independence Payments. I am opposed to these changes because it is widely accepted that the new system will result in many tens if not hundreds of thousands of people all over the UK either losing their current support or having it reduced.

DLA has been one of the few things our country has done to show our compassion to the most vulnerable in our society and its abolition to make cuts should be opposed by everyone. I have put a petition on HM Government epetitions website link http://epetitions.direct.gov.uk/petitions/38182 (Stop the Abolition of Disability Living Allowance for Personal Independence Payments). I would be grateful if you could draw your readers to the attention of this petition as I am trying to force Parliament to relook at the governments proposals. Thanks for your support.
