Letter to The Bolton News - 09/10/2012

Dear Editor,
The Community Action Party have initiated a campaign to stop the abolition of Disability Living Allowance (DLA). From 2013 onwards everyone receiving DLA will be reassessed for the new system of Personal Independence Payments by the controversial company ATOS. DLA has been responsible for transforming the lives of millions of people in the UK living with disabilities and/or long-term/life-long illness. It has been one of the few things that has demonstrated the compassion of our country in that we try to look after the most vulnerable in our society. Central government in abolishing DLA are using the changes to make savage cuts of around 20% of what is paid out now. Therefore, thousands of people in Bolton and the Greater Manchester region under the new system will have their benefit slashed or have it stopped altogether. Please sign our online petition to "Stop the Abolition of Disability Living Allowance for Personal Independence Payments" @ http://epetitions.direct.gov.uk/petitions/38182. (HM Government epetition website) to help us force parliament o relook at the matter. Thank you.
